Independent Advice

Truly Objective Advice Comes From
Truly Independent Advisors

"Advisor" or "Salesperson"

The titles, “Financial Planner” or “Financial Advisor” have become very common. It can be difficult to discern if an individual is simply trying to sell you an insurance or investment product, or truly acting in the role of an objective advisor. It’s not unusual for a particular company or firm to place a priority on generating sales commissions.

Because the Strategic Planning Group is not tied to any one investment firm, annuity or insurance provider, we have the freedom and independence to offer you a wide range of highly effective services and solutions to help you achieve your unique goals and objectives.

Identifying an Independent Advisor

In the midst of compelling brochures, dynamic presentations and impressive offices, it can be difficult to discern a truly independent advisor from a salesperson.

We recommend that you insist on full disclosure by asking the following types of questions:

   How do you get paid?

Can you give me access to any and all investment, annuity and insurance products? If not, why not? Will you give me a comparison analysis showing the products you offer vs. what else is available?

Regarding the services you provide and the products you sell, what are the internal fees and expenses that I don’t see? How do these compare to similar services and products?

This is only a sample of the kinds of questions you should ask. Be bold and be direct and very importantly, get the advisor’s responses in writing.
